Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of Liverpool centre-back Jarell Quansah in a deal worth £30 million plus £5 million in add-ons, sources have confirmed.
The highly-rated 21-year-old defender will sign a contract until June 2030 with the Bundesliga champions, bringing an end to his time at Anfield—for now.
In a key detail of the agreement, Liverpool have successfully secured a buy-back clause in the deal, allowing the Premier League side to retain future control over the player’s career trajectory.
Quansah emerged as a bright prospect under Jürgen Klopp last season, making 17 Premier League appearances and earning praise for his composure, passing range, and physical presence. His performances drew interest from across Europe, but it is Leverkusen, under Xabi Alonso’s stewardship, who have won the race for his signature.
The move represents another ambitious step for Leverkusen as they prepare to defend their Bundesliga title and compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Quansah is expected to join the German side for pre-season training in early July.
