Two members of the House of Representatives on Thursday formally announced their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), respectively.
The lawmakers are:
1. Peter Akpanke, representing Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency of Cross River State, who moved from the PDP to the APC.
2. Prof. Paul Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency of Enugu State, who defected from the Labour Party to the APC.
The defections were officially announced on the floor of the House during plenary and read out by the Speaker.
Their move is seen as a boost to the ruling APC, which has continued to court lawmakers from opposition parties in a bid to consolidate its majority and political strength ahead of future legislative and national engagements.
