Farhad Shakeri, an Afghan national living in Tehran, was identified by the Justice Department as an “IRGC asset.” Prosecutors claim that Shakeri had connections with individuals he met while incarcerated in U.S. prisons, and he allegedly recruited these individuals to assist the IRGC in conducting surveillance and assassination operations.
Shakeri is said to have discussed the assassination plot with FBI agents during phone calls, with hopes of negotiating a sentence reduction for someone imprisoned in the U.S. He reportedly told the FBI that an IRGC official approached him in September, asking for his help in planning an attack on Trump.
Shakeri claimed he warned the official that such an operation would be costly, to which the IRGC representative allegedly responded, “money’s not an issue.”
According to Shakeri, the IRGC instructed him on October 7 to devise a plan to kill Trump within seven days. He added that the official threatened to pursue the assassination after the election if Shakeri failed to deliver a plan within the given timeframe.
Punch also noted that Shakeri relayed to the FBI that the IRGC official first approached him in September about the assassination, and when Shakeri mentioned the high cost of the operation, the official reassured him by saying, “Money’s not an issue.”CLICK TO READ THE FULL NEWS HERE▶▶
