Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said he expects Ethan Nwaneri to deliver a similar performance seen against PSV on Tuesday when his side face Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Arsenal defeated PSV 7-1 in the UEFA Champions League, thanks to goals from Jurrien Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Martin Odegaard (2), Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori.
The London side is now comfortably in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Speaking in a post-match briefing, Arteta relished the victory but quickly set his sights on the future.
He said, “Well, it obviously gives us a lot of joy, confidence and belief, and then in football, it’s not what we did three days ago, or today, it’s about what we’re going to do tomorrow, or at Old Trafford, how we behave and able to win again, and that’s it. Enjoy tonight because it was a very impressive performance, an unbelievable score, so we deserve that, and now take that, and keep improving as a team.”
On Nwaneri, Arteta praised the youngster’s performance and urged him to replicate such when they travel to Old Trafford.
“I don’t think that he needs any pushing! You see him every time he has the ball what the intention is, so if he comes, he comes, and it’s great and really impressive again the way he behaved, the way he played tonight. It’s about consistency now, doing it again three days later in another big stadium,” he said
