Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has received a cache of weapons seized from a suspected gunrunner intercepted by the Department of State Services (DSS) while smuggling the arms from Niger Republic.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Gusau, Lawal commended the security agencies for their synergy and proactive intelligence gathering, which led to the successful interception.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security forces in tackling banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes in the state.
“These weapons could have ended up in the hands of criminals terrorizing our people. I commend the DSS and all security agencies for their diligence and coordination,” Lawal said.
The governor called on the public to support security efforts by providing credible intelligence and cooperating with law enforcement agencies.
