In 2021, Zulum began closing camps and resettling IDPs in Maiduguri.
During his visit to Darajamal, Zulum reaffirmed his commitment to closing all IDP camps before his tenure ends.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of post-recovery projects for resettling survivors in Bama.
Zulumâs administration aims to resettle survivors in their ancestral homes, following the Kampala Convention.
âI earlier promised to close all IDPs before my tenure ends.â
âFulfilling this promise, we started resettlement,â he said.
âGod willing, weâll close the Bama IDP camp in Maiduguri, a game-changer, as itâs unsustainable.â
Zulum sought the militaryâs support for resettlement efforts.
âI appeal to the Nigerian military to support our resettlement efforts.â
âWe wonât allow sabotage of government intentions,â Zulum said.
He commended the militaryâs efforts, stressing that people shouldnât be kept in IDP camps.
âWhy keep 1,000 to 1,500 military personnel in a local government?â
Zulum praised President Bola Tinubu for providing financial support despite economic challenges.
âI commend the President for funding despite the low naira value.
