"We Will Have The Community’s Back"- California Attorney General, Kicks Against Trump’s Transgender Order, Warns Hospitals

The US state of California has warned hospitals against abandoning transgender youth following the recent executive order by President Donald Trump.

The newly signed executive order seeks to block transgender youths from participating in female sports.

It could prevent them from receiving healthcare across the country, which has prompted California’s attorney general, Rob Bonta, to send a clear message to providers.

The Attorney-general reminded them of their duty to provide gender-affirming treatment under the state’s nondiscrimination laws.

“The law requires [hospitals] to continue to provide gender-affirming care to our transgender community,” Rob Bonta, a Democrat who heads the California justice department, told the Guardian on Wednesday.

“We will have the transgender community’s back. We will fight for their rights, for their protections, for their freedoms.”

Trump had in one of his executive orders decreed that medical institutions being funded by the federal government do not provide gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy and puberty blockers, to youth under age 19.

In response, some hospitals have paused treatments, which are considered part of the standards of care for gender dysphoria endorsed by all major US medical associations.

DAILY POST earlier reported that Trump on Wednesday signed the “No Men in Women’s Sports executive order, banning biological men out of women’s sports.

Earlier report had announced that Trump would sign the executive order barring transgender athletes from women’s sports.
