A woman identified as Khadija Salisu was rescued on Friday by the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) after she was pushed out of a moving vehicle at the Powerhouse Bus Stop junction along Yakubu Gowon Crescent in the Asokoro District of Abuja.
The incident, which occurred on Friday around 4:30 p.m., is suspected to be a “One Chance” robbery commonly carried out by criminal gangs disguised as commercial drivers.
According to a statement by Nkechi Isa, Head of Public Affairs for FEMD, the department’s search and rescue team was alerted by the FCT Fire Service and immediately dispatched to the scene.
“On arrival, the team found the victim unconscious but without any visible physical injuries. She was promptly evacuated to the Asokoro District Hospital, where she is currently responding to treatment,” the statement read.
Eyewitnesses’ account stated that the victim was pushed from the vehicle while it was in motion, which drew the attention of passersby and prompted intervention of emergency responders.
FEMD said Investigation into the incident is ongoing, although details on the vehicle or suspects involved in the incident were not revealed.
It urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid boarding unmarked or suspicious vehicles, particularly in isolated areas.
