Yelewata Massacre: Intelligent Chiefs, NPF, Others Storm Benue

Following the directive by President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, intelligence chiefs have arrived in Benue state.

The chiefs stormed the state alongside other officers of the Nigeria Police Force and troops of the Nigerian military.

Olusegun Dada, the Special Assistant to the president on social media made this known on X.

Dada said the security operatives arrived in the state at the instance of the president to direct operations that could end the incessant killing of several residents of Benue by some suspected armed herdsmen.

According to Dada, the team of security operatives would also ensure that sanity is restored in the state.

He wrote, “On President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive, intelligence chiefs, the police and the military have arrived in the state to direct security operations and restore sanity.”

Recall that about 200 people were said to have been killed in a recent attacks on the Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The devastating attacks comes on the heels of several others by suspected armed herdsmen in the state.

The governor of the state, Hyacinth Alia, in a recent outburst during an interview on television had accused Abuja-based politicians of orchestrating the attacks in Benue.

The governor also alleged that intelligence gathering by security operatives in the state had revealed that the politicians are responsible for sponsoring these attacks.

He said the politicians engage in such acts for their personal and political benefits.
