Yuletide: A’Ibom Donates Food and Toiletries to Homeless Children

In the spirit of the Yuletide season of love and care, staff of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on Tuesday, 17th December, 2024 visited Way to the Nations Children’s Centre, located in Eket Local Government Area, where food stuff soft drinks and toiletries worth thousands of Naira were presented to inmates of the home to celebrate Christmas as part of the Ministry’s philanthropic activities for the year.

Mrs Akpan encouraged the young souls of the home to be of good behaviour, obedient with the fear of God and to focus on pursuit of their dreams and aspirations, reminding them that they are not defined by their circumstances but by their potentials, ability to surmount challenges to actualize their dreams, achieve greatness, as future leaders.

She appreciated the Caregivers for nurturing and mentoring the children in the way of the Lord, enjoining them to keep trusting God that what they have planted in the lives of the children would continually blossom and bear fruits.

Earlier, the Coordinator of the home, Mrs Diana-Abasi Akanimoh while welcoming the visitors, expressed delight for the Ministry’s visit, second time running to share the love and joy of Christmas, saying the choice of the home was divinely orchestrated, thanking the staff for the gifts to the children for their Christmas celebration.

She shared testimony of the goodness of God in the lives of the inmates, noting that there has never been a time the kids have lacked three square meals and other provisions since inception and that the Grace of God has ever been sufficient.

Mrs Akanimoh added that the home which started in 2013 with 18 inmates has grown to 41 in 2024 , most of whom are doing very well academically , while some have already graduated from the university with promising future.

Speaking on behalf of inmates, Samuel Ime Udo, thanked the Commissioner, Hon Frank Archibong, Management and Staff of the Ministry for the kind gesture, prayed for God’s blessings. He however solicited support of the Ministry towards the construction of their permanent residential home as their present accommodation is rented.
