Zamfara: Parents oppose returning 88 students from Cyprus without completing final semester

The parents of the 88 Zamfara State students studying in Cyprus have strongly opposed the idea of their children returning to the state without completing the final semester of their studies.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Parents Association, Amb Ibrahim Tudu, he said that the parents and guardians of the students are not in support of bringing the students home without allowing them to finish their remaining semester.

“They should be allowed to complete the remaining semester in order to finish their degree programs. Bringing them back home without completing this semester is unacceptable,” he added.

Tudu further stated that the parents have resolved to engage in more consultations, appeals, and public awareness efforts regarding the situation and the plight of their children.

“We are demanding action from both the Zamfara State government and Cyprus University,” he said.

According to Tudu, the Zamfara State government had earlier promised to take action on the issue, but nothing has been done so far.
