A tragic accident in Ile-Ife, Osun State, claimed the lives of five people on Thursday, September 13, when an empty gas tanker collided with a minibus, causing both vehicles to plunge into a river near the Old Toll Gate close to Sabo-Lagere on the road to Ife Grand Resort.
The incident involved 17 commuters, and rescue efforts by the Osun State Fire Service, in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and residents, led to the recovery of five bodies. View Photos
Adekunle Inraheem, Head of Publicity for the Osun State Fire Service, confirmed that the deceased included two men, two women, and a toddler.
He said the bodies were transported to the OAU Teaching Hospital morgue.
The accident occurred when the tanker and minibus veered off the road into a ditch along Ibadan Express Road in Ajebandele, Ile-Ife, Full Detail.
