Abia State: Governor Alex Otti Warns Against Bribery in Teachers’ Recruitment

The Abia State government has warned against all forms of bribery and extortion of job seekers in the teachers employment exercise approved by Governor Alex Otti.

It was gathered thousands of job seekers have applied for the teaching jobs.

The state government has raised the alarm that some of the desperate job seekers may fall into “unpatriotic elements” who it said, have positioned themselves to hijack the exercise by extorting and defrauding the applicants.

A statement issued by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, said said that the recruitment exercise would be transparent.

The recruitment is being conducted through online application by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

“Simply put, there’s no room for bribery or compromise of any kind as a condition for the employment of any teacher.

“Anyone caught trying to circumvent the rules and guidelines for the selection as directed by the governor shall be made to bear heavy consequences, according to the law,” the statement warned.
