SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command’s spokesman, confirmed in a press statement issued on Wednesday that the operation occurred early on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

Ikenga stated that the operation led to the demolition of several makeshift structures and left fleeing suspects severely injured, with gunshot wounds as they escaped.
“The operation resulted in the destruction of several makeshift structures within the camp, the recovery of 19 unexploded improvised explosive devices and inflicted significant injuries on fleeing suspects,” Ikenga added.
The operation’s success stemmed from reliable intelligence on the gang’s activities and details obtained from suspects detained during ongoing police efforts across the state.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Nnaghe Itam, praised the coordination between security services and public vigilance, emphasising the necessity of ongoing collaboration to preserve safety during and after the Christmas season.

“In light of this development, the Commissioner of Police strongly urges all proprietors of private and public hospitals to immediately report any individual presenting with bullet wounds or injuries of a suspicious nature to the nearest police station,” the statement read.
CP Itam emphasised the importance of this method in tracking down fleeing suspects and preventing additional criminal activities.
