The mass displacement highlights the growing security crisis in the country, as armed groups continue to overrun communities despite efforts by the ruling authorities to combat insurgency. Witnesses reported that heavily armed militants stormed Tanwalbougou, forcing families to abandon their homes and livestock in search of safety.
“The situation is dire. People are fleeing with only what they can carry, and many have no place to stay in Fada,” said a local resident who arrived in the city with his family.
The attack adds to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Burkina Faso, where large parts of the country remain under the control of non-state armed groups.
