The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, have congratulated Nigeria’s first 2024 Paris Paralympic Gold Medalist, Onyinyechi Mark.
Onyinyechi Mark set a remarkable new World record by lifting 61kg in the powerlifting competition.
In his congratulatory message, on Sunday, Governor Otti said Mark has made Abia State and Nigeria proud.
“A hearty congratulations to Onyinyechi Mark on her incredible achievement at the Paralympics in Paris! She won Nigeria’s first gold medal in the entire Paralympic. Beating her old world record in the powerlifting category, and setting a new world record is truly remarkable.
“Her determination and courage have once again proven that with conviction, we can overcome any limitation and achieve greatness.
“Thank you for making Abia and Nigeria proud. Your success is indeed an inspiration to us all,” Otti said.
On his part, Benjamin Kalu said Mark’s powerlifting new World record at the 2024 Paris Paralympic tournament, reinforced the determination of Nigerian women.
“I heartily congratulate Onyinyechi Mark, a proud daughter of Abia State, on securing Nigeria’s first gold medal at the 2024 Paralympics, where she won the women’s 61kg powerlifting competition, setting a remarkable new world record.
“This outstanding achievement is indeed a testament to her resilience and courage, which have brought immense honor and pride to our nation.
“Onyinyechi’s strength reinforces the zeal and determination of Nigerian women. I wish her continued success and many more accomplishments in her future endeavors, as she continues to inspire us all,” Kalu wrote on his X handle.
