A kidnapping attempt was foiled by security forces in Imo State as two women, Mrs. Constance Chinwe Araoyinvo and Mrs. Olamide Akigbe, were successfully rescued from their abductors.
The women were kidnapped on April 24, 2025, at Anara in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area while traveling to Umulolo Obo Village to purchase bread after attending a service of songs for their late father.
They were attacked by armed men suspected to be members of IPOB/ESN while riding in a Honda vehicle.
Swift action by the Okigwe North Surveillance Team, led by the Acting Commissioner of Police, ensured a positive outcome.
At around 12:45 a.m. on April 25, 2025, the police team rescued the victims along the Umuahia-Okigwe Expressway, recovering their vehicle in the process.
