The governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru-Bago, has described the tanker explosion which left 48 people and 50 cows dead in Essa village in Katcha Local Government Area as devastating.
Umar-Bago in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, said the incident was painful and unfortunate.

Also commiserating with the families of victims of the victims of the explosion and those who lost property, the governor assured that the state government through the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) and other relevant agencies, have been mobilised to the scene for rescue operations.
