Niger-Benin Pipeline Targeted in Complex Attack, Heavy Damage Reported

A section of the Niger-Benin oil pipeline was targeted in a sophisticated attack between the night of Thursday, February 20, and the early hours of Friday, February 21, security sources said.

The assault occurred around 2 a.m. between Muntseka and Kamrey, straddling the Dosso and Tahoua regions, near the Dadinkowa Mosque in northern Niger.

Local sources described the damage as “very significant,” with reports suggesting a well-coordinated assault.

Although no group has claimed responsibility, the operational tactics used indicate the possible involvement of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (EIGS).
