Anglican Archbishop, Driver Regain Freedom From Kidnappers After One Month In Captivity

Announcing his freedom via his Facebook page on Thursday morning, the clergyman expressed wrote: “Praise the Lord!”

This announcement has elicited hundreds of responses, with many expressing their thanks to God for his safe return.

It is worth noting that Okpala, a retired Archbishop of the Niger Province and Bishop of Nnewi, was freed one month after his abduction.

The Cleric had gone missing while travelling to Umuchu, a community in Anambra State, to attend a burial ceremony.

As of the time of this report, the specifics surrounding his release remain unclear, but it is being celebrated across various social media platforms associated with the Anglican Communion.

One such platform is the official Facebook page of St. Stephens Anglican Church, Nnewi.

Meanwhile, kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N75 million for the release of Reverend Canon Olowolagba, an Anglican priest, along with his wife and two children.

LeadNaija reports that the family was abducted along the Ise Akoko-Iboropa road in Akoko North-East Local Government area of Ondo State.

Reverend Olowolagba, who hails from Ikaram-Akoko, was travelling with his wife, Mrs. Olowolagba, their 16-year-old daughter, Goodness Olowolagba, a first-year student at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), and a nine-year-old girl named Idowu who was staying with them.

The abduction occurred on Sunday between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm, as they made their way from Ipesi through Isua Akoko, before being intercepted near Ise-Akoko.

According to The Nation, the Bishop of the Akoko Anglican Diocese, Reverend Babajide Bada, confirmed the kidnapping, explaining that the family’s disappearance became evident the following morning when church members realized they had not arrived at their destination in Ikaram.Don’t Miss Out!
