“The VP is also said to have heard of moves to replace him in 2027 with Yakubu Dogara being taunted as a replacement and as such views moving into the VP official residence as a complete waste of his time.”

According to Ude, “The source said the VP being aware of the suspicion feels that moving into the new residence would make it easier to monitor his movements and keep tabs on him while monitoring the guests he receives in his house and office and the type of discussions that go on within the building.”

“In June 2023, one month after President Tinubu and VP Shettima were sworn in, the government commissioned the VP’s residence, which cost N21 billion to construct. FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had explained that the project was awarded at an earlier cost of N7 billion in 2010 but was eventually abandoned after some initial fixes.”

“President Tinubu had on June 7, 2024, commissioned the N21billion residence of VP Shettima. The president stated that the provision of suitable residence for the Vice-President was not merely a matter of convenience but a symbol of respect for the office and the individuals who occupy it.”
