The Delta state chapter of the PDP is living in denial even as the national body of the party is caught and held down by the tenterhooks of Nyesom Wike. So you don’t forget, PDP has been lost in the seas without a compass since governors Nyesom Wike and Ifeanyi Okowa boxed over who takes Atiku’s Vice-Presidential ticket in the 2023 elections. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa won the fistfight, despite his leaner look and smaller purse, beating Nyesom Wike and earning his unforgiving annoyance. Okowa discovered soon enough that the pyrrhic victory made him a mere supplier of stolen cash to the Atiku Presidential campaign.
He became an errand boy, looting his own state to make a Fulani the President of Nigeria. He is now staring wide-eyed at prison gates as EFCC hounds him for a missing N1.3 Trillion of development funds allocated to his state for development of oil producing communities.
The oil communities are rousing and Atiku is far away in Dubai carousing with his many wives. The boys in the know say: “ when mugu fall, guyman chop”.
Now, Okowa takes the Thief’s cup for being the first Nigerian to be accused of stealing a trillion. And his much worshipped PDP structure both in the state and national space are in shambles and crumbling everywhere. The national chairman Damagun is very busy now, working as privileged tea boy to Wike and Gbaja when they meet for debauchery most evenings.
That is a worthier undertaking than being the chairman of a political party looking out for a deserving undertaker. Wike does the cooking of course with condiments that include the PDP, while Damagun serves the desserts, tea and the whiskies of $18000 per bottle. Gbaja, the Lagos big boy is, as always, the chairman of every occasion. Eko o’ ni bajè ooo!
In his home in Delta state, Okowa is said to be awash with hundred dollar bills which he must “dash” to everyone who come calling to solidarize with him on his five day “wrongful incarceration” by the EFCC for taking out more than a trillion from his state.
And as if these are not enough to worry about, there is now the morbid thoughts that the ground is trembling and sinking right under his feet as rumours of the party going down grows. Every member, loyal and not so loyal are looking at the exit doors and windows, seemingly waiting for the first person to take the dive.
Even his main lackey, his ever faithful dog and man Friday, Sheriff, is making furtive glances at the exits; both doors and windows, but first making sure to ask those outside how firm the ground is before taking his leap of faith.
This is no longer time to count on loyalty. The heavenly kingdom is “per head” as we say in Sapele. Every man for himself and the devil can bloody well take care of the leftovers. For two pennies, anyone can buy a tonne of loyalty, even if it is rubbished by the elements.
Since the Ibori’s broke loose and changed house, the PDP’s once big and happy prison yard appears now to be getting too humid and hot. Looking in from outside the notorious prison, there appears to be a prison break forming fast. There has to be a prison break or else ….. The grass on the APC side is looking definitely greener.
Okowa’s well laid out plan for a comfy life at government expense is unraveling right before his very eyes. From LGA Secretary to LGA Chairman and then Commissioner in three ministries, then to Secretary to Government. From there to Senator of Nigeria that he swore never to take and back to the state to be the governor. Twice. All he wanted was to finish the run with the presidency. Is that a bad thing? Just a trillion naira missing now and the EFCC is croaking. Just a teeny weeny trillion. After all Elon Musk flaunts a trillion or something that looks like it. A man like him. What has EFCC done to him?
It’s not as if the trillion loot is in dollars. How can anyone say that he’s not as good as Elon Musk who’s flaunting his own trillion across the world and even in the outer untamed space. Musk didn’t have to steal his own loot but all loots are what they are, money. Money gives you power and the big bang, if you leave out the theory and set your mind on the orgasmic renditions.
Is Musk doing his thing with money inherited from his father? So why the open and unspoken condemnations even when no one has found him guilty.
The Delta state PDP, it’s obvious now, has lived out it’s shelf life, Okowa and his trillion not withstanding. Okowa has taken his parting gift of our trillion. The leftovers, let another take.
