Akara Business: Remi Tinubu Urges Burna Boy, Davido, Asake Others to Establish Foundations for Small Traders

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on some of the country’s leading music stars, including Burna Boy, Asake and Davido, to establish charitable foundations dedicated to supporting vulnerable Nigerians and small-scale traders.

LeadNaija News report that, Remi Tunibu Speaking during an engagement in Kogi State, the First Lady urged wealthy entertainers and other successful Nigerians to complement government efforts by investing in initiatives that improve the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.

According to her, while luxury vehicles such as Maybach and Rolls-Royce cars are symbols of success, individuals blessed with wealth can also make meaningful contributions by supporting low-income earners, including pepper sellers, vegetable vendors, okra sellers, melon traders, akara sellers and other small business owners.

“The Burna Boys of this world, the Asakes, all of them, Davido, we want to see you with one foundation or the other, helping the poor with your money,” she said.

Mrs Tinubu also recounted the story of a university graduate in Abuja who turned to selling akara after failing to secure employment, describing it as an example of resilience in the face of economic challenges.

As part of her visit, the First Lady presented grants of ₦50,000 each to 2,000 small-scale traders in Kogi State to support and expand their businesses.

She noted that the intervention forms part of ongoing efforts to empower micro-business owners and improve economic opportunities for grassroots entrepreneurs across the country.
