Two Friends Allegedly Shoot Each Other With the Same Gun During Heated Fight Over a Woman in KwaZulu-Natal

Two friends allegedly shot each other with the same firearm during a dispute over a woman in Ottawa, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday evening.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded after an injured man drove into a service station in Waterloo at about 20:31 seeking emergency assistance following the confrontation.

According to the injured man, he was followed by his friend after the pair argued over a woman.

He alleged that when he stopped at the intersection of the R102 and Tottenham Road in Ottawa, the suspect exited his vehicle and confronted him while he was waiting at traffic lights.

During the altercation, the driver of a white Suzuki S-Presso was shot once in the left side of his chest.

The victim alleged that he managed to disarm his attacker during the struggle and used the same firearm to shoot him before fleeing the scene. He then drove to a service station in Waterloo, where he sought assistance.

While attending to him, Reaction Officers received information that the other man had also suffered a gunshot wound and had been transported to hospital, although they could not independently confirm the information or the extent of his injuries.

The seriously injured man was privately transported to a medical facility by his family.

At the time of the incident, Reaction Officers had not independently confirmed the reported injuries of the second man.
