Transfer News: Fiorentina Make Improved €22m Offer For Arokodare

Italian club Fiorentina have made an improved offer of €22m (£18.76m) for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Tolu Arokodare, proposing a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent next summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina want to finalise the loan deal before the option is triggered, though it remains unclear whether the Serie A club are willing to commit to a mandatory buy clause.

Wolves signed Arokodare from Belgian side Racing Genk for £24m on a four-year contract in 2025 after he scored 21 league goals to win the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot and the Ebony Shoe, awarded to the best African player in Belgium.

The Nigeria international’s first season in England did not go to plan, as he managed six goals and two assists in 38 appearances across all competitions in a campaign that ended in Wolves’ relegation to the Championship.

Three of his Premier League goals came against Arsenal, Chelsea and Brentford, while he also scored against Everton in the EFL Cup.

According to Sky Sports UK, Arokodare is prioritising a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues, comprising England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France, and has ruled out a switch to Turkish side Trabzonspor, despite an official offer from the Super Lig club.

Negotiations between Fiorentina and Wolves have been described as difficult after the Italian club’s initial loan offer was deemed insufficient by the Premier League side.

New Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto is currently assessing his squad ahead of the club’s return to the Championship, with Raul Jimenez expected to compete with Adam Armstrong through the middle of attack, leaving Arokodare third in the pecking order.

Arokodare, who is contracted to Wolves until 2029 with the club holding an option to extend by a further year, has also featured in the Bundesliga, having made 10 appearances for Cologne during the 2020-21 season.

Any club hoping to sign him will need to meet Wolves’ valuation before a deal can be completed.
