Serie A club Como have made an initial approach to sign Chelsea striker Liam Delap, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Delap is reportedly high on Como’s shortlist as the Italian club searches for a new centre-forward, with discussions potentially developing during the final weeks of the summer transfer window.
Romano reported that Como have now made their first approach to Chelsea regarding a possible deal for the 23-year-old striker.
The Italian club are understood to be looking for another attacking option, with Delap emerging as one of their preferred targets.
There is currently no agreement or completed transfer between the two clubs, meaning the situation remains at an early stage.
Chelsea-Como Relationship Could Help Deal
Como’s relationship with Chelsea is reportedly positive following the recent transfer of defender Trevoh Chalobah to the Serie A club.
Chalobah completed his move from Chelsea to Como earlier this month, with the transfer reported at around €30 million plus potential add-ons.
That existing relationship could potentially help negotiations if Como decide to make a formal proposal for Delap.
Delap Could Leave Chelsea
Delap’s future at Stamford Bridge has become uncertain as Chelsea continue to reshape their squad under manager Xabi Alonso.
Reports indicate that Chelsea are prepared to consider offers for the striker during the final weeks of the transfer window.
Como’s initial approach therefore represents an important development, although further negotiations and a formal offer would still be required before any transfer could be completed.
For now, Delap remains a Chelsea player, with Como having only made an initial approach.
