Four more political parties have been added to the ballot for Saturday’s Enugu North Senatorial District bye-election, bringing the total number of participating parties to seven.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Enugu State, Chukwuemeka Chukwu, disclosed this while supervising the distribution of sensitive election materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to the affected Local Government Areas.
It was under tight security and the watchful eyes of Party agents, election observers and INEC officials, as sensitive electoral materials for the Enugu North Senatorial bye-election were despatched from the CBN vaults to the 6 Local Government Areas that make up the district.
For the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Chukwuemeka Chukwu, the movement of the materials marks another major step towards Saturday, June 20 poll.
Although a bye-election, the poll is attracting significant attention from INEC, as the exercise will be supervised by the National Commissioner representing the South-East, Professor Sunday Aja, alongside Resident Electoral Commissioners from Ebonyi, Imo and Plateau States.
Professor Aja told journalists that the arrangement is aimed at strengthening public confidence in the electoral process.
