Empoli, struggling to find consistency at home, started brightly, dominating possession in the opening stages. However, their inability to break down Torino’s well-organized defense was evident. The hosts’ first real chance came midway through the first half when Tino Anjorin curled a shot toward the far corner, but Vanja Milinković-Savić reacted brilliantly to deny him.
As the half progressed, Torino began to assert themselves. Samuele Ricci’s header from Borna Sosa’s cross was saved by Devis Vásquez, and Antonio Sanabria came close with another header, but Vásquez was equal to the task again. The first half ended goalless, with both sides ruing missed opportunities.
Empoli came out strong after the break, and Liberato Cacace had the game’s best chance up to that point. The left-back latched onto a loose ball in the six-yard box but fired narrowly wide of the near post. That miss proved costly as Torino punished Empoli with a moment of magic in the 72nd minute.
Che Adams, receiving the ball just inside the Empoli half, noticed Vásquez off his line and unleashed a perfectly weighted lob that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the net. The goal, Adams’ fourth in Serie A this season, stunned the home crowd and shifted the momentum entirely in Torino’s favor.
The visitors controlled the game in the closing stages, effectively shutting down Empoli’s attempts to respond. Empoli’s earlier energy waned as Torino’s disciplined defense saw out the win.
