Nasiphi Moya Rejects Claims That City Contractor Tlopo Construction Renovated Her Home, Accusing Political Opponents of Circulating False Allegations Ahead of Local Elections

Tshwane Executive Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya has rejected allegations that Tlopo Construction, a company reportedly linked to business with the City of Tshwane, carried out renovations at her private residence. Moya said the central claim is false and insisted that Tlopo Construction did not undertake any work at her home.

Moya said a swimming pool was constructed at her residence in early 2025, while paving around the pool and elsewhere on the property was completed in 2026 by a separate company. She said the projects were carried out at different times by different service providers, and neither was undertaken by Tlopo Construction.

According to Moya, all work at the property was contracted in her private capacity and paid for from her own funds. She also raised concern about what she described as a coordinated effort by political opponents in Tshwane to circulate similar allegations to multiple journalists and media organisations, including claims that originated from a journalist who allegedly does not exist.

Moya said the allegations were being circulated approximately three months before South Africans vote in the local government elections on 4 November. She said she welcomes legitimate scrutiny of her conduct as mayor but would not accept what she described as a fishing expedition based on false claims, adding that she has documentation to substantiate her position.
